COQUILLAY Jacques
Jacques COQUILLAY was born on 3 June 1935. He was a student in the Sculpture section of Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Tours.
Diplôme national de sculpture, 1958.
Student at l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts of Paris in Marcel Gimond's studio.
Diplôme superieur d'Art plastique, 1960 (grade: good).
When Gimond died, Coquillay joined Hubert Yencesse and Raymond Corbin's studio.
Candidate in the Prix de Rome examinations, 1961.
During the judging of the Prix de Rome he met Jean Carton, Raymond Martin and Georges Hilbert with whom he became good friends. He set up a young sculptors'group with the help of Belmondo and produced several group exhibitions.
In 1976, he met Dunoyer de Segonzac, who encouraged him and purchased his first bronzes.
He was elected vice-president of the Artistes Français in 1983.
